More Primed Windows and Doors

The first several images are before scraping and priming.  The last two images show what we have primed so far.  So excited to see more white on the trim!

Our plan is to put a window where the kitchen door (door with the sign) is.  There are 4 doorways and two floor to ceiling windows in the 14’x14′ kitchen which doesn’t leave much room for work areas along the walls.  🙂

Cistern

Cisterns are big tanks used to collect rain water for use in the home.  The cistern in our house is 12 feet deep and 5 feet wide.  It’s located near the middle of the mudroom and covered by two 1 inch thick boards.

Our cistern will not be used so we filled with pea stone to make it safer for our family.

Stairway Landing

This is what the landing looked like when I started.  The biggest concern is the peeling paint because there are layers of lead paint in several areas of the house.

I carefully removed the peeling paint and wiped whole area wiped down.  Even though these particular walls tested negative for lead, I will still coat them with as special primer that encapsulates lead paint as an extra precaution in what will be a high traffic area for our family.  It will then be ready for a fresh coat of paint.

I can’t wait to make it more inviting– the cat scratches on the wood work and doors is a bit frightening. :)
